Currently attending Boston University’s School of Management, she attended Taipei Medical University for a year as well.
Having lived in Taiwan for over 18 years and taken mandarin classes all her life Vivian is truly bilingual, fluent and proficient in both English and mandarin. Though Vivian’s education started at a English-based bilingual school, she completed her high school education at a prestigious local high school famed for its academics. She is proud of her Taiwanese American background and feels lucky to have understanding and knowledge of both cultures. She has been put her bilingual proficiency in use since high school, when she translated for the school’s monthly newsletter and later on when she interned at Standard Chartered Bank.
Her love for dancing began with ballet and Chinese folk dancing and later on evolved to jazz, then hip-hop and reggae. Vivian’s passion for dancing drove her to start a dance troupe in her academic-oriented school and against all odds lead the dance troupe to perform at a city-wide performance. A dancer and an athlete, Vivian is also a runner; she competed in numerous city-wide competitions for 100M and 200M. Additionally, she is also an avid tennis player and swimmer. Her current and newest obsession is surfing, which she learned in the sunny waters of Taiwan.
Vivian’s interest in business is rooted in her love of mathematics. She treats each problem as if solving a puzzle and likes the never-changing simple axioms that could be used in various ways to solve different problems. For Vivian, business is like working magic with math. Before deciding to concentrate in Finance and Law, Vivian also tried out her interest in Biology by interning at the National Institute of Health. Upon deciding that her future would be closely linked to Finance and Law, Vivian joined the Law and Finance club in her junior year, after devoting two years to serving on Boston University’s Taiwanese American Student Association to promote Taiwanese culture.
Vivian’s future job will be related to ibanking, law consultation, or statistical analysis. After graduation Vivian will work in New York City, Taipei, Tokyo, or London for one to two years before continuing her studies at graduate school. Where after, she will work three to four years in New York City before getting sent back to work in Taiwan by an international company.
