
Elizabeth Hoffberg
Elizabeth Hoffberg is a junior in the Boston University School of Management. She has been a member of the Honor’s Program and in 2008 visited Ireland and Northern Ireland as part of an International Field Seminar course. Elizabeth is pursuing a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration with a triple concentration in business law, marketing, and operations and technology management. She believes that a broad educational background will open up many opportunities when seeking a full time career upon her completion of her undergraduate studies. She would also like to obtain a JD/MBA degree soon after leaving Boston University.
Since matriculating at Boston University, Elizabeth has become involved with the undergraduate community, including pledging Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed service fraternity dedicated to providing service to her community, both small scale at the university, or large scale for national organizations like Relay for Life and Dance Marathon. She is also an active participant of the Community Service Center, from the beginning of her freshman year as a First Year Student Outreach Program participant, spanning the length of one week to help the hungry communities in the greater Boston area. She has also completed weekly Student Food Runs delivering extra food from Starbucks’ to a homeless veteran’s shelters and battered women’s shelter. In addition, Elizabeth was a Peer Leader for Wizards, which brings science to underprivileged children in the Boston area weekly.
In high school, Elizabeth graduated from the top of her class from Harrison High School in Harrison, New York, as a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. She was also a Rotary Student of the Month and Student of the Year. She also received various awards in the sciences. In high school she was also captain of her cross-country, winter track, and spring track teams, which she was a member of since 7th grade. She attended the National Championships for winter track in 2005, 2006, and 2007 for racewalking.
Elizabeth’s has also been practicing tae kwon do since she was 8 years old. After many years of hard work and repetitive practicing, she received her junior black belt in 2003 and her senior ranking first-degree black belt in the summer of 2007. She worked as an instructor at her tae kwon do school for 3 years teaching forms and sparring techniques, as well as helping her students perfect their punches, kicks, and blocks.
During her summers, Elizabeth has worked at the Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common and Ritz-Carlton, New York, Central Park in the guest relations and club lounge concierge, and rooms and human resources departments, respectively. She enjoyed the hotel atmosphere because it allowed her to see the hard work that goes into making each guest’s stay a memorable one, and the dedication of the employees who act out the tasks of making the hotels four- and five-diamonds, respectively. She also worked as an HSBC intern in which she was researched company data for potential customer prospects and reviewed multimillion dollar loan spreadsheets to ensure the loan holders were staying up to par with their financial success.
In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys running and exercising. She likes to run on the Esplanade along the Charles River in Boston and also likes walking around and exploring different neighborhoods in Boston. Growing up in a suburb of New York City, she appreciates spending time in around New York, especially in Central Park.
