About Jen Kruse
Jen Kruse is currently a junior in Boston University’s School of Management. Jen would like to concentrate in both Law and Marketing. Her interest with Law began last year when she took LA245. She found the class both useful and engaging and believes that a law concentration could be useful, as it could lead to a variety of job opportunities not limited to the Business Administration field. She is interested in Marketing because it is based in understanding people. She is interested in a business concentration that isn’t necessarily about the ‘bottom line’ and purely numerical. Marketing attempts to understand how people think and enhance businesses from that aspect.
Since her freshman year, she has been a part of several teams, participating in the Portfolio Track Project, Competitive Analysis Project, and Organizational Behavior Project. Now undergoing CORE in her third year, she anticipates many challenges and great learning opportunities ahead. As chief editor, she is responsible for ensuring all written documents are of an excellent caliber. In addition to her editing duties, she is also one of the primary coordinators on the team, communicating where, when and what will be discussed in upcoming meetings to fellow team members.
Outside of class, Jen heads to the pool. Jen has been the goalie of the BU Women’s Water Polo team since 2007. She has been named All-Conference both years, helping her team place second each time. As the team’s Treasurer, she helps manage the finances.
Most of Jen’s work experience comes from years of lifeguarding at her high school pool. She also has tutored ESL students on computers, to simultaneously teach English and computer skills to recent immigrants. She spent her freshman year working for SMG’s catering service where she worked as a server. The summer after her freshman year she spent the summer in Portland, Oregon lifeguarding. Currently, she is not working, choosing to focus her energy on her CORE semester.
Jen was a National Honor Society graduate of Evanston Township High school. During her 4-year tenure, she was an active member of both the swim team and student council. Focused on swimming all four years, she named to the All-American team 5 times, placed top 12 in the state 10 times, qualified for Junior Nationals, and received the Booster’s Club Excellence award in the sport. During her sophomore year, she picked up the hobby of skateboarding. She spend her junior and senior year summers touring with the Mountain Dew Tour where she had the opportunity to meet nationally ranked skateboarders.
One of her inspirations and models is Lady GaGa. Jen hopes to one day be as awesome and inspiring as the magical blonde. She has met Lady GaGa once when she was on vacation in LA. After generous words of encouragement from GaGa herself, Jen was even more inspired to follow her dream of designing clothes and making inappropriate scenes. Jen looks at the picture of her and Lady GaGa everyday as a reminder that even the craziest people can be heard.
